Today we had an interesting brief, take your most interesting pages or parts off from your Workbook and re work them into something different omg, why, how many, how….. It was madness.
After a bit of hesitation I started tearing pages out and then parts of pages, it was liberating!
I wanted to put together an ever changing vision of what I considered important in a way that is different from the original meaning and is even more different to the viewer.
So I started by cutting some pages in my current workbook horizontally into three equal parts then I ripped and pasted pieces of my old work books onto the pieces of my new workbook. I wanted to be able to move different sections to create a different look.
At first I found the composition was bland, using acrylic paint in black and white I brushed on a wash to make it appear like you were seeing the image through water, slightly blurry and I had an idea to highlight the more interesting parts of the images. However before I got to that stage I decided to try some spray paint, first though I used masking tape to section off parts of the image before I went to work with yellow and black spray paint. This worked really well and I started to use the spray paint in a more random way.
The following are some photos of today’s outcome, tomorrow we are doing similar but 3D, more to come…
